What is the correct format for a letter to be sent via fax?

However you want it to appear at the other end - bearing in mind the fax
machines limitations with reproducing graphics.

Probably larger fonts than I might use in a printed letter. When I fax
letters, I use the Fine resolution on the Fax machine. The end result is
close to a photocopy.
