Hello - we have several (over 50) Mac computers on a corporate network and have run into a problem where a user who just installed Office is getting a license violation.
We have kept track of all of our keys and thought that the key we put for this user is not in use, however that does not seem to be the case. As we understand it, there is some daemon locally that broadcasts within the subnet to see if other Macs are using the same license keys for Office.
Our questions are -
1) Is there a way to tell (from a log perhaps) which specific Mac is claiming to conflict with the license keys on the new machine.
2) Are there any tools we can use to audit the license keys installed on each machine - specifically extract the keys from the machines so that we can match them to our internally managed list (similar to SIW for windows)?
3) Any recommendations on multi-platform auditing and inventory tools (we have Windows, Mac and UNIX). We are aware of Altiris, but are also looking for alternatives (Open Source preferred). We don't think any of these extract the license keys of managed systems, but if there is one that does please point that out.
