Hi,

I am looking to upgrade to office 2003 and I was looking at buying the full
product online. It found on a couple of site much cheaper than resellers
like CDW. This is the full product (not opened or not OEM). I was told by
someone that Microsoft puts some price range on office and if you do not buy
it in this range that you could be fined if audited. I thought this was a
ridiculous statement but I want to make sure if it is or not.

Thanks

You *REALLY* need to be careful if you aren't dealing with a reseller. I've
seen their site too. Somewhat professional looking, great prices. Read the
fine print. It often states you don't get disks, tech support, manuals, etc.
Can you say "bootleg"?

It is not bootleg because I have boughten software there before. It will be
in the original packaging not opened and it is $200 cheaper than CDW. Back
to my main question is there a price range or if it is a full product then I
shouldn't worry.

Thanks

I used to work for a reseller and I never heard anything about a price
range. The fact that it's $200 cheaper makes my "spider sense" start to
tingle tho. Any chance you'd share the name of this place?

Only appears to be about 90 bucks cheaper than CDW. It's in the ballpark.

I am still wondering if there is a price range?

Thanks

The price range is set by market forces. The issue is not MS policy but
a case of if the price is "too low" the item likely being counterfeit or
pirated. Hope this resolves the confusion.
