LIMIT THE NUMBER OF CHARACTERS ENTERED IN A FIELD

I need to set fields to limit the number of characters entered, can it be
done in Excel 2007?

Describe what you mean when you say "fields"... Are they cells on the
worksheet? Or are they TextBox'es either on the worksheet or on a UserForm?
If the latter, which is it, the worksheet or a UserForm. If the worksheet,
where did you get the TextBox'es from? Or do you mean something else by
"fields"?
