lines by header & footer

There are faint grey lines all of a sudden where a header
and footer would go. This is for all documents I open. Not
sure how they got there, and I cant figure out how to get
them to go away. It looks like |_ _| . Using word
2002.

Those marks appear when text boundaries are enabled in Word, and/or when
East Asian language support is enabled in Windows.

To disable text boundaries in Word, click on Tools | Options | View |
uncheck the "Text boundaries" box.

To disable East Asian language support in Windows XP, click on Start |
Control Panel | Regional and Language Options | Languages | uncheck the
"Install files for East Asian languages" box. The menu choices are
slightly different in Windows 2000 and 98, but you can probably figure
it out from this.
