Linked Text Boxes

B

Brian

I am using Publisher 2002 to create a newsletter. I used
the design layout wizard for the style and I am trying to
update the text boxes. When I change the text box to a
different font on Page 4 it Changes my headline on page 1,
or if I delete it on 4 the main headline is deleted on
Page 1. I know that these two (and possibly others) are
linked but I don't want that. How can I unlink these text
boxes without deleting them and recreating them. I might
be using the wrong terminology here but the two boxes
update each other. This is a really annoying prospect that
I might have to completely re-layout the design so I can
have it the way I want it to look. Someone please tell me
that I can unlink these two somehow so I don't have to
spend another 8 hours redoing all my work.

Thanks in advance.

I searched all through Help and this does not show up any
where. I have spent the last 2 hours trying to find this
and I can not. I also am finding text that I cannot edit
in some of these frames. Please help this is driving me
crazy.

Thanks! Brian

Brian, From Help in Pub 2000:

Turn off synchronization between objects:
To keep Publisher from synchronizing similar objects in your publication,
click Undo on the Edit menu after Publisher synchronizes the objects.

Brian I know about not being able to edit that text, and it has to be
deleted and re-enter what you want.

However, I cannot find where you change the text quote "When I change the
text box to a different font on Page 4 it Changes my headline on page 1, or
if I delete it on 4 the main headline is deleted on Page 1."
I cannot get this to happen.

I did look at the HELP file in Pub2002, and yes, the Synchronisation is not
there. It must have been the Pub2000 HELP file which had that. I don't
have Pub2000 installed anymore.

Under Options, User Assistance Tab there is an option to Use Quick
Publication Wizard for blank publications, and Step Through Wizard Questions
which when checked may set up synchronization as a default. I broke the
synchronization as a default some time ago...not sure how, but I also have
Update Personal Information when saving, unchecked, and now under User
Assistance I now have the option of Click to Reset Wizard Synchronizing. HTH
