linking and re-displaying existing tasks under a new heading

I need to create a new heading called deliverables in my project to display
all milestones at "show level 3" (summary level for exporting data to MS
Powerpoint for charts). Is there a way to do this as you can in MS excel
where you can say this cell's data is a copy of some cell name such as A3,
etc so that if a change is made to the data at the detail level, it
automatically updates the data in the newly developed category?

Hello Hornet50,

I'm sorry, no. Project does not have the capability to reference other
tasks as Excel has the capacity to reference other cells.

I'm not sure precisely what you are seeking however, would a custom
filter using one of the flag fields suit your needs? Insert one of the
flag fields and set the flag to "yes" for those tasks you wish to
display. Then create a custom filter to display only those tasks where
the flag = "yes."

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

hornet50,
The equivalent in Project is Paste Links but I wouldn't recommend using
them. Paste links are fragile and can cause corruption, even when used
within a single project.

A better approach would be to go ahead and set up duplicate milestones
under the new heading and then use a standard finish-to-start
predecessor to link those deliverable milestones to the appropriate data
elsewhere in the file.
