Linking buttons to cells

Stuart

Hi,

How do I make a button so that If I click yes or no under
it, the cell underneath it changes in value also??

Many Thanks,

Stuart.

Hi Stuart

not sure what you're really after, but you can use data validation to get a
drop down in one cell showing Yes or No
(click on the cell, choose data / validation, choose list, type
Yes,No
click OK

then on the cell underneath you can use an IF statement e.g.
(assuming the data validation is set up in A1)
=IF(A1="Yes","A1 says Yes",IF(A1="No","A1 says No",""))

Let us know how you go

Hi,

Thanks for the responses. I realise I wasn't very clear
with what I asked.

The reason I am asking is that I have a spreadsheet that
has this on it and I'm trying to do it myself on another
sheet and can't do it.

There is a box that covers the whole area of one cell, and
it has it's drop down arrow permanently visible (i.e. it's
not like the data validation where the drop down arrow
only appears when you click directly on the cell).

Within the drop down list of the box are two choices -
"Yes" and "No".

When the box has "Yes" highlighted, the cell over which
the box lies displays "1" (I have to physically move the
box - by right clicking on it then dragging it to the
side - to be able to see the 1 underneath); when the nox
has "No" highlighted, the cell over which the box lies
displays "0". This allows other cells to reference this
cell using IF statements like IF(cell=1,,) etc.

I realise that this is almost identical to data
validation, but it looks more professional in that the box
is permanently displayed over the cell.

Hope I have explained what I need better,

Many Thanks,

Stuart.

Hi Stuart

i think you want the combo box control off the forms toolbar
view / toolbars / forms
click on combo box control
click on your workbook - size combo box to fit a cell
then somewhere else type
yes & no in adjacent cells
right mouse click on the combo box
choose
format control
choose the control tab
input range - select the cells where you typed yes & no into
in the cell link, select the cell where you want the number to appear
click on the OK button

hope this helps
