linking many task to one task cuased gant chart to be unclear

Hello

I have a very vast Pj plan which contains 2500 task. We decide to make a new
breif Pj plan to focus on important tasks(It has 200 task). As new Pj plan
doesn't contain many detailed tasks and so thier relationship, I have to link
many task to one task (It named Pj plan approved). This caused many line
through my gantt chart. I need a solution for this.

How can I have a all task gantt chart with less line through it for the
reason mentioned above? (I want to have all task in Gantt chart not only
summery tasks)

Thanks

This is an inherent problem with the Gantt Chart. It was never intended
to show dependency relationships. It shows the relationship of tasks
with time. The Network Diagram is intended to show the task dependency
relationships, and does it much better than the Gantt.

I've had some success getting organizations to appreciate the ND by
printing it out and showing management how much clearer relationships
are in the ND. Sometimes you have to "sneak up on them" with it. :)

Hope this helps in your world.

An idea may be to use the fine product Mind Manager which can read a
Project MPP file and display it as a "mind map". Or, import the data
into Visio. Once into these graphically-orientated packages, you may be
able to more easily achieve the clarity you seek.

Thanks for your reply.
But my aim is not having a Network diagram, I just want to have a clear
gantt chart with not many lines from one task (ID 4) to the others.

I will be greatfull for your help.

Bahareh,

Project's Gantt chart view can either show the lines, or not show the
lines. Your choice. Use the Gantt Chart wizard on the Format menu as
easiest way to try both ways.

Thanks Rob. I learned new thing from you.

It is realy helpfull but in its option all links will not be shown. But my
problem is only link between one task (not all) to others, and still exist.

Thanks for your help.

Bahareh,

Draw in by hand on the paper printout what you want, and use white-out
to mask what you want to hide? Not high-tech, but effective.

Many years ago, when I was young, I was working on my car where I had
very few tools. I tried to use the claw hammer I had as a screwdriver.
It didn't work. That day I learned that hammers make lousy
screwdrivers, screwdrivers make lousy hammers.
