Linking Reference Docs in the notes

I am having an issue with the icons for my reference document links. I click
insert object--> create from file and select the file. When I click display
as icon I only get words so I click change icon. I select one of the icons
and when I click ok it disappears and I cannot for the life of me get the
icon to appear....just words. any thoughts?

Hi SarahJ,

If it is any solace, I've seen the same thing for a number of years in
Project 2003 (SP-3). Word 2003 files display as just a box with the
phrase "Document", Adobe PDF files just display "Acrobat Document".
The embedded objects seem to work fine -- it's just the icon doesn't
appear correctly.
