linking to documents

scrabtree23

I am creating a webapge in publisher. I have buttons on a navigation bar. I
can link those buttons to existing webpages or "places within this document".
However, if I try to link one to a file, say a word.doc file it appears the
link was successful. When I do a webpage preview, however, and click the
button, it doesn't seem to activate????

Pay no attention to Evadne Cake. She gets her kicks treating others poorly
and laughing at their questions and misfortunes in these newsgroups.

If you have nothing further to contribute, your posts are just as useless as
Sarah's. Please move along.

Do you think I'll leave faster if you keep answering my reply's or do you
just want the last word because that's more important to you?

Unless you are contributing to the Publisher (microsoft.public.publisher)
community by either:

1. Needing Publisher assistance

or

2. Offering assistance with Publisher

There is no need for your presence. Get it? Or is there a part you don't
understand. I would be happy to elaborate.

I guess the answer was B. Having the last word.
I will post what I want when I want, do I need to elaborate on that?

Yes you do need to. And it has nothing to do with having the last word. At
has to do with keeping "our" newsgroup friendly and helpful. Trolls such as
yourself need not apply, just move on.

Where's all that "elaboration" you where talking about? That's it? Well
allow me.
If you need to tell someone to move on I suggest you focus on Evadne Cake
AKA Miss Perspicacia Tick. If you had done so in the first place then I
wouldn't be here would I? But no, she is your pet troll that does in fact
treat posters to this group like crap, she does all the things that you
"MVP's" can't do and that's why you don't tell her to "move on"

J

Jim

This not "your" group or anyone else's. It is microsoft.PUBLIC.publisher,
see the public in the name? If you where concerned with having a "friendly
and helpful" group why do you put up with Tick's bs?, because your full of
bs yourself?

I suggest you do a search of the newsgroup and learn to RESEARCH before you
spew out inaccurate statements. I have in fact asked her to leave here. I
recommend you pay attention.

Has it occurred to you that the MVP's have not *made the decision* to "not
treat people like crap", but actually just don't have it in them to be mean
and nasty to Publisher users?

For me it just comes natural to be nice to those seeking assistance, knowing
full well after doing this for the past 8 years that the majority of posters
are also new to computers. They are also inexperienced in
"USENET"rules/recommendations. I don't expect them to research newsgroup
etiquette prior to seeking assistance. The that would eliminate the whole
point behind these *MICROSOFT OWNED* (usenet *mirrored*) newsgroups.

Sarah has already stated that her goodbyes are forthcoming as she has moved
on to her supposed greener/brighter pastures with Steve Jobs and Co. No need
for me to beat a dead horse with her. I cringe at each of her posts.

And FWIW, as an MVP, I don't need to abide by the Microsoft code of conduct.
If I felt like calling someone a name, or felt like calling their software
FECES, I can do so. If they prevented me from doing so, I would no longer be
an MVP. BUT, I would still continue to help Publisher users in this forum.

If she leaves, you leave...and that's great. That is 100% of the problem
right now. But you account for 50% of the problem. Right now 50% sounds
better than 100%.

Deal with it. Please move along. BUT, if you do have some assistance in
Publisher to offer, offer it. Or if you need assistance, I would be happy to
help you.

I never said it was mine. I said "our", as in the Publisher community. You
have obviously made it clear that you are NOT interested in the PUBLISHER
communities support intent. This is a public newsgroup OWNED AND OPERATED by
Microsoft. They can operate these newsgroups in any manner they choose. The
public doesn't own them. Microsoft has also given the MVP's the ability to
submit spam/threats/harassing posts for deletion from the servers. While
they can't control the usenet mirrors, they do have full control of their
own servers.

So now, do you care to tell me why you are still here?

Apparently it didn't work so you think you will have success with me?

Has it occurred to you that the MVP's have not *made the decision* to "not
treat people like crap", but actually just don't have it in them to be mean

Huh? I never said mvp's treated people like crap and yup,*ALL* mvp's are
such angels and do gooders.

"For me it just comes natural to be nice to those seeking assistance,

I am not concerned with you, I'm sure you are a very helpful person. As far
aa newbie's are concerned I agree with that too.I don't part care if MS owns
the server or not or if that's a veiled threat or not. If it is I don't care

"And FWIW, as an MVP, I don't need to abide by the Microsoft code of
conduct"

No but I still say there ARE mvp's who defend her (in other groups as well)
for the aforementioned reason. And you point out that reason your self, "you
would.not be an mvp any more"

"Sarah has already stated that her goodbyes are forthcoming as she has moved
on to her supposed greener/brighter pastures"

That remains to be seen

"But you account for 50% of the problem. Right now 50% sounds
better than 100%"

If you haven't guessed already I disagree and don't care what you think. I
wont go into why because we just disagree, that's all.

"Deal with it. Please move along. BUT, if you do have some assistance in
Publisher to offer, it. Or if you need assistance, I would be happy tohelp
you."

I wont be moving on, as long as Tick's posts are appropriate you wont here
from me."What's appropriate"? I wont argue that point at all so don't
bother. I post helpful information in other groups so I can appreciate what
you do and the time it takes and that it's all your own time.Thank's

Can you read headers? Good BTW *NO ONE* has *EVER* been "banned" from a ms
*PUBLIC* newsgroup for stating an *OPINION* or otherwise.

B

Brian Kvalheim [MSFT MVP]

That's true. If MS were to ban by the I.P. address (like the one in your
headers), they would ban the entire set of users under that ip provider. I
have been through this years and years ago. Believe me, I know how it works.

Don/Jim/Anne, are you constantly changing poster names to avoid being
kill-filed by the group? That's troll-ish behavior.

Blessed be, for sure...
