Links are broken and cannot fix

OK, our controller is in a pickle. He has 4 books, some with multiple
sheets. He was working on budgeting stuff and emailed the 4
spreadsheet(ss)'s to our President. Somehow, somewhere his original files
got messed up so he is now working with the 4 ss's that were email back to
him from the pres.

He has links in his ss's that look to other ss's, but now the look keeps
looking in his temporary Outlook folder. (\OLK1B). Whenever we open the
files it asks for a file to relink and we put it to the right folder that
contains the file, but it does not restore the link. The link still states
the \OLK1B folder. We manually change the link to the current folder and
hit enter and it acts like it accepts it, but when we click back on the cell
it shows the link of the \OLK1B folder. We have tried the edit...links
selection but it does not hold the link.

The file is not read only, because we can add other data to it. Is there
some sort of problem between Outlook and Excel, because this all started
when he emailed the documents to the president.

Thanks,
Bryan

Did you check the "hyperlink base" contained in the file properties? It's on
the summary tab.
