Is is possible to have a display of buttons on a slide to click on to bring
up (display) a template of information (say, a series of questions and
answers) within a powerpoint presentation?

Yes you can do this. Take a look at the PPT FAQ at
http://www.pptfaq.com/FAQ00141.htm for some same code that Shyam
Pillain and Steve Rindsberg wrote that describes how to do this.
