List of settings/changes stored on Normal.dot?

Hi all,

I developped an addin (<filename>.dot loaded with "C:\Program
Files\Microsoft Office\Office10\WINWORD.EXE" /L<filename>.dot) and
have some problems.

This template changes some settings like viewing of bookmarks etc..
and at some (not all) of the about 50 users the program sometimes (not
always) tries to save Nomal.dot. This happens despite the fact that
after changing some settings in the "program" I always use
NormalTemplate.Saved = True.

To get a better insight in what goes wrong with this users it would be
very helpfull to find a complete(!!!) list of all settings/changes
that trigger saving of Normal.dot.

Is such a list somewhere (perhaps a microsoft) available? Up to now
I'm unable to find it.

Thanks in advance,

Hans Troost

Change your customization context to your active document or your own
template rather than normal.dot?

Hello Charles,

What do you mean with "customization context" And: how can this help
me?
Change your customization context to your active document or your own
template rather than normal.dot?

The situation is this:
1. Windows 2000, Word 2002 (!)
2. Start word using /L<program template>
3. In the program, depending on users choice, create a document, based
on Template1 or Template2, but the Addin <program template> still
controls everything (the application has its own menu's and
functionality)

As far as I know now, in Word 2002 not all "personal" settings are
stored in Normal.dot, but a lot of them are stored in the Registry
(HKEY_Current_user).

I try to reproduce the wrong behaviour (did not succeed up to now, not
all users have it) and to check which settings that are changed in the
program, possibly cause this unexpected saving of Normal.dot
