Litware Demo EPM 2007 Restore

Hi There, hoping someone can help!

System:
Project Server 2007 & Portfolio Server, SQL 2005 Ent, Single server.

I've been able to restore the Litware demo onto the epm environment
but when trying to access the URL, I receive the following message:

"Error: Access Denied"

Current User
You are currently signed in as: SERVER\ACCOUNT

Sign in as a different user

The account I have signed in as, is the admin for everything! (single
server installation)

So...what do I do?

I have another couple of questionss...
1. Which services do I kill before I restore the DB? (it's painful,
the Project server services bring themselves up auto, even if I
disable them!). IIS /STOP?
2. Do I have to kill the connections in SQL Management Studio? This
was the only way I could restore.

Thanks in advance!

I feel bad that nobody is responding to you, but 1) it sounds like you're
trying to do something that isn't supported, and 2) You really haven't
provided enough information to troubleshoot. For instance, something like
the steps you took to get where you are today would help. Generally
speaking, the way to go about this is to provision a new site for Project
Server connecting to the existing databases, rather than creating new ones.
Understand that the Litware Demo is provided as a VPC image and is intended
to be used that way. Also understand that there are customizations in the
system that will not carry forward by simply attaching to the Project Server
databases as this doesn't address the SharePoint content database. A full
farm backup and restore is what you need to do. One has to wonder why you
are not using the image as intended.

Hi Gary

Thanks for the response.

I created the environment following the litware installation demo
video.

When trying to provision a new site, it said that I was not allowed to
do this because there are existing databases already with the same
name.

The reason I am not using the VPC image is because we use VMware in
our corporation. Therefore, the environment was built from scratch. I
am ok with the restore not carrying forward the Sharepoint content
database.

Perhaps, then, a better way of resolving this issue is to ask...

”How would I restore the litware demo databases onto a new
environment?”

Regards
Vincent
