Load Global Template

Why am I receiving the message, "The add-in template is not valid" when
attempting to load into Word. The template is in Word's startup folder and
shows up under Templates and Add-Ins, but will not allow me to check the box
to make it active. Thanks!

I'm not sure I know what you mean. It is a Word template that contains a
custom toolbar with working macros. I want it to load when Word is opened. It
was working until I revised the template on a diskette and copied & replaced
with the revised version. I had trouble loading it originally, but I renamed
and messed with it a bit and finally got it to work. This time renaming did
not work. Any ideas??? Thanks.

:
maybe you have edited this document too many times and it has become
corrupt!

Look at these links -

http://word.mvps.org/faqs/macrosvba/TemplateBloat.htm
http://word.mvps.org/faqs/apperrors/CorruptDoc.htm

If that's not the problem then try a digital signature, are you on a
different machine now? Possibly security settings stopping you?

p.s. I think if it's in the startup folder and it has custom toolbars
then they should be available without using Tools > Templates & Addins
checkbox.

Open up that template, open up one of the code modules and then try to
compile it.

Does it compile?

Editing it while it was on a floppy may be the source of your problems.

If you want to be able to use your documents, when working with in Word, act
as if your floppy drive does not exist. (This applies to CDRW/CDR drives as
well.)
Don't use Word to:
Open a document on a floppy
Print a document on a floppy
Edit a document on a floppy
Save a document to a floppy (not even a copy)

Word regularly trashes documents on floppy drives!

Instead, work on the document using your hard drive. Copy it back and forth
using Windows.
