Location of Contacts and Rules & Alerts

Gary Lindgren

I moved my outlook.pst file and found that the Contacts folder and Rules and
Alerts information did not come along to the new location. How can I find
this information.
Thank you

Russ,
I have Outlook 2003. I copied the outlook.pst file to another folder and
then reset Outlook to find the Outlook.pst file in the new location.
Thank you

Unless you used the supported method for data migration, you would lose
Rules and Alerts
Losing Contacts is implausible.
Is this the method you used?

Russ,
Do I need to Export to a separate file the Contacts and Rules & Alerts info
and import from these files to the outport.pst in the new location.
Thank you

No. Importing and exporting will lose all connections and links along with
other data.
Use the method I posted.

Russ,
OK, I tried the process again and this time I was able to get the Rules &
Alerts. I believe I always had the Contacts except that I had a couple empty
Contact folders and had get the correct one on top. One more question. It
seems that the Rules... even though are there, they don't seem to work as
before. Seems as if I need to redo the Rules. Is this normal.
Thank you,

Normal. You have to reset the rules so they can find your new PST file
location.
