Lock-down at the subtask level

I would like to lock individual subtasks so that in order to view them
(i.e. expand their parent task), a password is required. For instance,
we have a very detailed manufacturing project. For internal purposes,
we need to track EVERYTHING. However, we would like to send the
project to our client with the minute details locked so that they only
see the overview or higher level tasks.

How might we accomplish this goal?

Hi ?,

Welcome to this Microsoft Project newsgroup :)

This can't be done within project :( Your best bet is to send them a
fltered hard copy for their perusal rather than the mpp file.

FAQs, companion products and other useful Project information can be seen at
this web address: http://project.mvps.org/faqs.htm

Hope this helps - please let us know how you get on :)

In addition to Mike's suggestion, I would propose the use of PDF (after
filtering). In this way you can still send something electonically
without giving away the store. This is even more critical if you are
using the enterprise version of Project. In that case all of your
resource information will go with the mpp file - including email
addresses, rates, and windows accounts. The only other option I can
think of is to strip out the offending material - in which case you
have 2 files to keep updated. The chances of human error increase
dramatically. Paper or PDF is the best way to go.

Yeah, using PDF is always an option with any program. As long as you
have Acrobat installed (not just the reader).
