My depatment has a huge project file (masterProject) on every projects we
have going on. Each project in it involve resources from multiple groups and
tasks are linked many ways. The masterProject changes daily.

I'd like to maintain an detail project file (detailProject) for my group.
Here is what I like my project file to have:

1. tracks more detail (subtasks) for some tasks in masterProject my group is
working on
2. link the two projects together so any changes can be transparant to the
other project file.
3. use Project Server and Web Access for status reporting for my group
4. (this is optional) not show detailed tasks in the master schedule

Is this possible? Is using multiple projects the right approach?

Many thanks in advance!

Luke,

If I understand well what you want, every features you need are available in
Project Pro with Project Server
Your question : Is using multiple projects the right approach?
The answer is obviouly "yes" if there are several Project Managers working
on this huge project.
