Individual folders in a personal folders file cannot be password protected.
To password protect the entire personal folders file, right click on
personal folders and select properties | advanced | change password.

Please make sure that you don't lose/forget that password as there are no
utilities from Microsoft that can recover or reset the password.

Hiyas Anthea

as far as i know, you have to make a diff between the
default mailboxes (ie inbox etc) and 'personal folders'.

The last, you can password protect in the way you described
yourself :)
The regular boxes cannot be password protected seperately i
think, since they are already protected by your
email-account password.

hope this helped - even if its a lil ;)
