Lock Toolbars in new message

K

Kate

Every time I close OL, I have to rearrange the toolbars back where they were
(a small but annoying problem). I tried renaming / regenerating the
"outcmd.dat" as suggested in some older posts, but that does not work either.
Also when I use Word as my editor, the same problem occurs. Each time I
generate a new e-mail the menu toolbars have to be manually repositioned. Not
sure if this is just how Outlook is at the moment or a bug or ???
If anyone can help and or advise me I would appreciate it.
Thanks in advance

Sorry Roady [MVP]

repostion themselves under the menu bar once i have closed outlook or
rebooted machine. I understand I can create a custom toolbar for e-mail but
this has only just started happening. All windows and office updates have
been downloaded and installed.

PS Thanks for responding :)

Hi Kate,

And this is for both Word and Outlook as the editor?

Lets first start with Outlook as the editor. Make sure Outlook is closed and
that the outlook.exe isn't running anymore in Taskmanager. Then try
resetting the Toolbar again. Just to make sure you get the right file; by
default you can find it here;
C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook

Done that. The toolbars are now under the menu bar but above the send
message toolbar. Shall i put them in the position I want them to go?
Didn't want to go too far ahead just incase you suggest to do something more!

I'm not sure if I completely get what your screen should look like now.

"The toolbars (Standard and Formatting) are now under the menu bar but above
the send message toolbar"

The Send Message button is on the Standard toolbar so that can't be under
it. Could you post a screenshot somewhere?

E-mail is good. If you can't figure out the address from the one I'm posting
with you can find another one on my website. Due to receiving way to many
spam I don't post valid address in the newsgroup.

I think I have e-mailed you the attachment showing the positions of the
toolbars - default and how i would like it (it hasn't come back undelivered
as yet).

There are a lot of postings regrading this and I think the I/we maybe not be
able to resolve this. But you have been so helpful please don't give up on me
yet!!

Roady, I think we can finish this. I have decided that the best thing is to
use the e-mail toolbar in OL and unselect the standard and formatting ones.
The functions on the e-mail toolbar does most of what i would use the other 2
for.
Thank you so much for your help. I didn't think at first with such a large
newsgroup, I would get a response. I will certainly use this site again if I
need to.
Thanks again Kate
