Locked Document

Im trying to type on both new and old documents and it won't let me type
anything. Every time I try, it says "this modification is not allowed
because the document is locked." How do I unlock it?

Either you have not activated Office, or you have a trial version of Office
that has expired. What happens if you open Word and click on Help | Activate
Product?

From the Tools menu, select Unprotect. But, have you activated Word?
