locked documents

All current and new documents are locked. Was using word,
left for a few minutes. When I returned the computer was on
stand by. I typed in password. Was back in word and could
not change document, it was locked. Now all documents are
locked including new ones. The document lock/unlock under
tools cannot be selected to unlock any documents. How do I
fix this?

Have you activated your copy of Word? Check under the Help menu. If there is
a command there about "Activate" try it. If you have a version that doesn't
require activation there won't be such a command. If you have already
activated, it will tell you that.
