look up value preceding and following

I a parcel value (real estate) that will be typed into a cell (22,500). I
need this value to look at a table and determine what the the closest value
preceding and following it will be such as 20,000 (precediing) and 25,000
(following).

Any ideas?

Hi Janette,

This is much easier to do with Excel, which comes with lookup functions designed for this sort of work.

Word doesn't have this sort of capability built-in, so you'd need to write your own code (macro/vba) to do it, plus you'd probably
need to set the document up with formfields and apply form protection to it.
