macro for inserting photos

Does anyone know how to create a macro to insert a photo from a digital camera?

My computer was just loaded with Word 2003. I had created a macro on whatever older version of Word I used to have, but can't duplicate it now.

What worked in the past was a macro I created (CTRL i) that would
1) insert
2) picture
3) from file
4) select "list" from the view menu (so that all the files were displayed in one window - thumbnails take up so much space that I have to scroll around to find the photo I want).

When I try to record these steps now, I can't "stop" recording the macro.

The beauty of having a simple keystroke (CTRL i) to display a list (rather than thumbnails) is that I can see all the photos, and quickly insert a dozen or more photos into a document. I have a separate macro to resize them to 3.5" wide, and I place them 4 on a page in landscape mode. Then I add captions.

Or has anyone figured out an alternative method for quickly adding photos to a document?

Thanks very much.

Use Dialogs(wdDialogInsertPicture).Show

Doug -

Thank you for your courtesy in responding.

I tried responding to my own post about a 1/2 hour after putting it up. I made a great discovery: by clicking tools>customize>toolbars>keyboard and then selecting "insertpicture", I was able to assign CTRL i to that action. Almost perfect.

The only problem left is that the view of the camera folder comes up with thumbnails, and it's very cumbersome (and it makes me dizzy) scrolling down to double click on the photo I want to include in the document.

I can switch the view to "list" but that's a lot of clicking since I'm doing the same steps over and over.

Is there a way to have the list view come up each time?

(I don't know why I couldn't post this before - I'm not sure it will work this time, but here goes....)

(Yee-haw - it didn't go, but I remembered to "copy" everything, and then came back in and will try again....)

Oh - I forgot to mention: I'm not familiar with "dialogs". I spent some time searching Word help, and it looked like dialogs had something to do with links and excel spreadsheets and such. So I probably don't have the skills yet to figure out "dialogs" (I couldn't even find where I would click on "dialog"), but I'll try some more.

Is there somewhere that explains the "format" of Dialogs(wdDialogInsertPicture).Show? Again, I guess I'm not a very advanced user and I haven't seen that kind of phrasing before (I'm thinking it means click on Dialog and then click on Insert and then click on Picture? I'm not sure about the "dot Show").

I'm pretty pleased with the "keyboard" shortcut for "insertpicture", so my frustration level has gone way done. I'll keep plugging away to see what I can come up with.
