hi,

Does anyone know how to write a macro in an Excel file which can update a
chart in a PowerPoint file with the data in an Excel worksheet? Thanks.

Really no need to use a macro. All you need to do is to do the following:

1. Select your chart in Excel (preferably as a chart on it's own Sheet,
which makes it insert at a much better size) and press CTRL-C to copy it.
2. Switch to PowerPoint and your desired slide.
3. Click "Edit", "Paste Special", select the "Microsoft Excel Chart Object"
option (should be the one already selected).
4. Make sure the "Paste Link" option is selected (differs between different
versions of PowerPoint).
5. Click "OK".

Now if you save your presentation, go into Excel and change any values,
re-open your PowerPoint file, the chart will change. make sure you don't
lose the "link" (i.e., place both files in the same folder first, THEN link
the chart).
