i am posting this again since i received a message stating that it didnt work.

q: are macros imbedded in the form (template) that i create? or do i somehow have to forward the macro to all users of the form?

If you are intentional about creating the macro within the template, then the macro will travel with it, so any user who creates a file based on the template will have the macro available.

and that is accomplished by selecting the exact file or i can put it in normal.dot...is that correct?

There are several ways to do so. You can copy the macro text (from VB Window - ALT+F11). Then OPEN the desired template, go into VB Editor (Alt+F11) and paste it in to create the macro in the new template. Close and save and it is in that template.
