mail daemon virus?

I have encountered this twice. Customer received email
Subject: "mail daemon". If you attempt to open or delete
this email Outlook 2002 stops working. From the task
manager you must stop the application. If you do not
attempt to open or delete the email Outlook continues to
function normally.

I have checked both Symantec and McAfee as well as run
AVG antivirus scans of both machines what have developed
the problem and nothing appears to be known.
