Mail won't send...goes into 'outbox'.

I installed "Office for Students and Teachers". Everything works, except for one thing. When sending e-mail, it goes into 'outbox' but does not send.
I can receive e-mail fine...and I can forward e-mail---but I cannot send it.....instead it just sits in the outbox.

Any suggestions?

What Outlook version and mail account type? What connection type? What is
your offline status?

Operating system is Windows X
Outlook version is Outlook 2003 ver 11.5608.560
All outlook functions are enable
Connection type is Cable Mode
How do I determine the off-line status? Outlook is currently on-line.

One other thing is that I can either forward or reply to a message and it gets sent. If I start a new message it goes to the outbox and sits there

Hey Larry, Try going to tools, select options, then mail delivery. There's an option to send mail be sure that it's checked.

After much frustration, I have figured out the proplem. In order to correctly send mail, it appears that the POP/STMP account needs to be the "default" or first account on the list when you go into tools / email accounts. For some reason forwarding and replying will work if it is not the default, but a new message will not. Thanks for all the input.

We're not getting anywhere. Let's try again. Mail account type? (e.g.,
Exchange Server, HTTP, POP/SMTP)
Connection type? (e.g., LAN, Phone Line, Third Party dialer)

What other type of accounts do you have? You should be able to send
regardless of whether the POP3 account is the default account?
