Major Problem with Reminders

I have almost 4500 appointments/entries (from 2005 to now) in my MS-Outlook
Calendar. Starting yesterday, the reminders of all the entries in Calendar
went active. I clicked on "Dismiss All" button in the Reminders Pop-up; all
the reminders seemed to be removed from the popup like they normally do;
however, they came back again. (The action of removing and re-loading entries
in the pop-up took minutes because there were so many entries). I tried to
"Dismiss" one entry by one entry. The reminders also came back again.

If I clicked "Open Item" button to open an appointment, the reminder of the
appointment is "NONE." This was same as the rest of the appointments.

To make the situation worse, the "follow-up" of all my contacts also went
active. However, I never set any follow-up to my contacts.

Currently, I have 5000 entries in the Reminders popup. Every time when I
launch MS-Outlook, I have to wait for the Reminders popup to load all 5000
entries before I can do any activities in MS-Outlook. This slows down my
machine majorly. I desperately need help immediately. Look forward to hearing
