Major slowdowns in Outlook/Office XP

This is a strange one, that I cannot seem to figure out.

For some reason, within the last 2-3 weeks, I am experiencing severe
slowdowns in Outlook, primarily where using Word is involved.

First off, I am running Office XP. I had been, using Word, as my email
editor. After my system has been on and in use for a few minutes, I start
experiecing very severe delays when trying to use the program. For
instance, with Word as my email editor, I compose a new email, or a reply
to an email. I click on send, then there is a long delay, before the spell
check launches and starts it's thing. I click on cancel on the spell check,
then click on send, and then there is another long delay, before the email
is actually sent.

I can try to open a Word document, by double clicking on the document, then
it can take not seconds, but even minutes before the document actually
opens.

I realize, this may be more related to actually the Word program than
Outlook, but with the knowledgeable folks in here I thought someone might
have some ideas.

Right after this started happening, I tried a system restore , however it
did not fix the issue.

I am running Windows XP Pro, SP2, with all updates. I am running Office XP,
with all it's updates.

I do not believe it is any form of malware, I keep my system pretty clean,
and run Ad Aare, Spybot, Ccleaner, on a regular basis - usually weekly. I
run AVG Pro anti-virus as well. I also have Spyware Blaster, and keep it
updated as well.

I am at a loss, as to what is causing this. I check my cpu and memory
performance in task manager, while this is going on, and nothing seems out
of the ordinary.

I am at the point, I am considering either trying to uninstall and reinstall
Office XP, or do a SFC Scannow, or even a repair install of my Windows XP
Pro installation.

Any ideas, would be greatly appreciated!

If any of these anti-xxxxx-scanners integrate with Office applications
disable this integration and try again.

Thanks Robert,

But I don't think they do. My AVG anti-virus, I do not have the email
scanner installed.

I do not see, where Ad Aware, Spypot, or Spywareblaster would integrate with
any of the Office apps.
