Major Table categories in Microsoft Project Server .....

B

BusyBoy

I am writing a short summary of the various different types of tables
in the Microsoft Project Server database.

Is my write-up correct ?? Or is there something which I need to
add/edit/delete.

Appreciate if some experts could comment on this.

There are four broad categories of tables present in the Project Server
database

1. Starting with MSP

Tables starting with the prefix MSP store the information of the
projects. When we open a project in Microsoft Project Professional all
the information displayed are from this tables.

When a task is updated and the changes are published, the information
is transferred from the MSP tables to the MSP_WEB tables and the
MSP_VIEW tables

2. Starting with MSP_WEB

This stores the data of the timesheet of a resource. As soon as a user
enters time the data will be available in the MSP_WEB tables.

Data from this tables are used in the timesheet view for users, and in
the 'adjust actuals' screen.

When a manager accepts 'task updates' from a resource the data is
updated from the MSP_WEB_ tables to the MSP_ tables.

3. Starting with MSP_VIEW_

Information flows from the MSP_ tables to MSP_VIEW_ tables when a
project is published.

Data from these tables are available in the Project Center and the
Resource Center.

4. Starting with MSP_CUBE

Tables stating with this prefix store the cube-related information.
This tables are updated once the cube is built.
