Make scrapbooking pattern fill effects like large dots

It would be nice to have some way to make other patterns than the normal fill
effects patterns for making cards, scrapbooking. Polka dots, gingham, argyle,
etc. would work well.

There are plenty of applications on the market *designed* for those
purposes. "One-size-fits-all" software rapidly becomes
"Doesn't-fit-anyone-properly" software.
