Make View options in Word persistent

T

tjslager

Before I upgraded to Office 2003, view options were persistent. Now I have to
change my view settings for each document and each time I open Word. These
should be persistent, as they used to be.

I have noticed other odd behavior related to dialog boxes in Word. For
example, in the Templates and Add-ins dialog box, you cannot clear
'Automatically update doc styles' and change the template, in one session.
You need to clear 'Automatically update doc styles' and click OK. Then go
back to the templates dialog and change the template.

The view is still saved with the document. The only exception occurs if you
have "Allow starting in Reading Layout" enabled on the General tab of Tools
| Options, and I believe even this applies only to documents opened from
email attachments.
