Makingtables

Hello,

I want to make a basic spreadsheet inside a web site. I need a series of
rows and columns. They will change from time to time. How can I put a table
in my web page and not have the size of the bos change automatically?

But that won't work. HTML table cells expand to accommodate whatever content
is put into them. This usually works just fine when tables are being used
for row-and-column data, as they're meant to be. What's the problem with
your spreadsheet page, Mike B, can you be more specific?

Does this mean you want to retain basic spreadsheet functionality in that
page? I think you're going to have to give that up. It would require more
javascript than I can provide you....

Soitenly. Widths are only minimum widths. Putting a 100px wide graphic
into a 50px wide cell will give you a 100px wide cell with a 50px width
specified in the markup. Loading text into that cell will not stretch its
width *UNLESS* it's text without spaces, i.e., a long URL or some enormous
German word, or a medical term like
pneumonicamicroscopicasilicavolcanicaniosis, which will blow the cell out.

That's why some of us say to never use cell dimensions in tables at all
(other than 100%).
