Managed Time Period

1) If the resource forgets to enter the time for that
week and that time period is closed, how do we capture
the actuals?
Resetting the managed time period as open and requesting
the individual to resubmit the time may not be practical
because of organization's size. Can the project manager
directly enter time into professional if managed time
period is enabled?

2) Is there a way to know which resources have submitted
their time for that given week. Is there a standard
report that answers this question?

Appreciate your insights.

Thanks,

1. You can enter/amend time for resources via the option
[Resources | Adjust Actuals]

You will need to give the appropriate Resource Manager
acess to the (Adjust Actuals) functions.

Extract from (Microsoft Office Enterprise Project
Management Solution End User Training Kit - page 547)

If your organization has chosen to use the protected
actuals function and lockdown time reporting periods, you
will occasionally need to adjust locked down actual work.
Rather than trying to enter the changes in the Actual
Work field in Microsoft Project Professional, use the
Adjust actuals feature on the Resources page. Situations
when you need to adjust actual work include:
.. When the data submitted by a team member is
incorrect.
.. When you want to enter data for a person who is
absent or unable to enter their own timesheet information.
.. When a time period has been closed by the
administrator and you need to enter actuals for a team
member.
The Project Server administrator can allow certain users
or groups to adjust previously submitted actual work.
However, you may want to limit the number of people who
can adjust actuals in order to maintain control over this
type of change.
Project managers or others with permission to adjust
actuals can use the Adjust Actuals feature in Resource
Center to modify time data. To adjust the actuals:

2. To see which resources have submitted time go to
[Resources | Summary Resource View]
This screen is extremely slow to load when there are a
large number of resources. This is a known issue and MS
will be rectifying it in Service Pack 1.

The view will show you all resources and their time
submitted for the period. This shows a total hours
submitted for the period.

Approved / Updated time is shown in black and Unapproved
time is shown in red (with the exception fo the odd minor
bug in the updating of approved time)

Hope this helps
