Manual Links in PowerPoint 2007 updates automatically

Hi, I'm using PowerPoint 2007. I have 3 slides that link to the same chart
(named: chart1) in Excel. All the links on the 3 slides are set to MANUAL.
The idea is to change the parameter in chart1 and then update the manual link
in slide 1, then change the parameter in chart1 again and then update the
manual link in slide2, and same step with slide3. So, I should end up with 3
different charts in the 3 slides. However, when chart1 parameter is changed,
ALL 3 slides changed automatically to display the current chart1. So, all 3
slides will always show the thing eventhough the links on the 3 slides are
set to MANUAL link. How to fix this?? Please help!

I tried this and was able to separately update links so that I ended up with
different slides. I created 3 links. Then I changed one number in Excel and
updated the link for the first slide. The others slides didn't change. then I
changed another number in Excel and updated the link for the second slide.
The first slide didn't change. (However, it could get really difficult to
know which link was which, because they all look the same in the Lins dialog
box. Not sure what would happen if you move slides around!) I've never tried
this before and perhaps I didn't understand exactly what you meant.

Hmm, wonder why I didn't see that? I guess it's hard to know if we were doing
exactly the same thing.

Hi, Itan,

I'm trying to gather examples of these files that don't respect the manual
links settings. Is there any way I could get a copy of your presentation
slide and the linked Excel file?

I'd also appreciate knowing, step-by-step, how you created the links.

Hopefully this will help Microsoft track down this bug.

You can email the files to me at echos at indy dot net. Thanks!
