Manufacturing Template

I am searching for a manufacturing template for Microsoft Project. I will
settle for a list of tasks or WBS if anyone has one available. To be more
specific, I need a VALVE manufacturing schedule or template. I appreciate
any input.

I am not sure Project is the right software for a manufacturing plant, but
assuming it is for a momment.

There are a zillion types of valves. I recommend you start with your
manufacturing bill of operations as your WBS.

Hi,

For having worked a lot in manufacturing environments, just my comments on
the "... is it fit"
It is, even near perfection, insofar production is organized in discrete
quantities of (generally) different, even one-off items.
Such a prodiuction process has everything you can require from a project: a
unique undertaking with defined results, a budget, a deadline.
That is why production management systems such as Axapta recommend the use
of Project for the scheduling bit (even SAP has nothing comparable)

But producing 11111111 times the same product one after the other on a
chain, no, of course not.

Thank you for the responses.

I'm still looking for a template...not looking forward to recreating a wheel
that I know is out there.

Do you have a manufacturing bill of operations for manufacturing the valve?
Do you know what that is? Your Operations Department should be able to give
you one.

Start with that. No template that's out there is going to model your exact
manufacturing process with the features and options that go on valves.
There are a zillion different types. There are different coatings, processes
...... you need that bill of operations.

That's my advice to you.

Hi,

Such a manufcturing template would in detail describe a production proces,
and I doubt your competitors will be happy to publish it.
