Margins are different when typing and on print preview

I set the top margin to 1 inch but when typing it appears to be on the very
first line (quite distracting), yet on print preview it shows correctly and,
in fact, it prints correctly.

Can you tell me how to correct this? THANK YOU!

In Word, click on Tools | Options | View | uncheck the "White space between
pages" box | OK.
