Margins for newsletter?

Susan

I have Publisher 2003. I want to determine what minumum
margin I can set and not have problems with my printer
area. I tried the help which gave the following:

On the Windows taskbar, click the Start button, point to
All Programs, then to Accessories, and then click
WordPad.
On the File menu, click Page Setup.
Type 0 for the Left, Right, Top, and Bottom margin boxes.
The margin values will then be reset automatically to the
minimum margin that is supported by the printer.
------------------------------------------------
I entered the 0 but value for margin in Word Pad remained
0. I know my printer will not print to the edge.

Am I missing something?

Thanks for information.

If you use 8mm on the top and sides and 16mm on the bottom you will be
totally safe.

I don't have an Epson- I have an HP 952c deskjet. So I need to figure out from HP info what my margins should be and forget this Word Pad stuff in Help! Right!

Thanks Ed. It is always good to see that you are answering posts!

Susan that is what I said 8mm at the top, 8mm on the left and right hand
side margins and 16mm on the bottom margin for your HP. Those will be
perfect for your HP.

The US is going Metric in many ways and it is not far away they will change
completely.

All medical and scientific work in the US now has to be done in Metric by
law.

Manufacturing and motor vehicle companies are all going Metric and as a
matter of fact most have already changed to Metric.

Many large US companies use Metric paper sizes which are substantially
better than US imperial paper sizes, as every other country in the world
uses Metric paper sizes and will not accept US Imperial paper sizes.

Can you name one?

International paper size is defined in standard ISO 216. It has
nothing to do with the metric system.

If this isn't metric, I don't know what is.

It is not surpring that ISO uses SI values. But there is no
requirement in SI to adopt ISO 216.

See for yourself at the official SI website:

Yes, but if you're going metric, it would make sense to use paper sizes
measured in the metric system.
And I was arguing with Pat's comment that ISO 216 had nothing to do with the
metric system. Which is obviously untrue, as the paper sizes are defined
using the metric system.

Egads! Did I see some metric measurements!

But they are traditionally measured in inches (8.5 x 11, 11 x 17, etc)

Did I mean defined? I think I probably meant defined.
I need to get some more sleep before starting more arguments like this...

Thanks Ed, Mary. I am back to the Publisher newsgroup
again. I am volunteering doing newsletter for
organization so I will probably be posting more regularly.
Ed, I do miss you quote about the paper airplane though.
