Mark Filtered messages as read

I know how to filter incoming email to different folders, but is there a way
to mark this email as being read. At work I get automatic department emails
about stuff that doesn't concern me, but they have to send it to the whole
department, so I would like to move them, and mark them as read (no I do not
want to delete them..just in case). I don't see that option though setting
up the filter.

I'm using outlook 2000
