MathType objects not horizontally aligned

B

Brent Hanrahan

I am trying to import a Word document that contains
thousands of equations that are written in MathType.

When I import the document, all of the equations are
positions above the lines of text. In other words,
Publisher positions each object (equation) so that the
bottom of the object is resting on the text line. I need
the objects to be positioned so that the MIDDLE of the
object is on the text line.

I can move each object (equation) indivually, however I'm
not inclined to do so for 600 pages of text and thousands
of equations. Is there a way to specify that I want ALL
objects to be positioned so that the middle (the vertical
middle)of the objects are aligned with the text line?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Brent look we are real life wizards here, but are not mind readers.

What version of Word and Publisher are you trying to get to cooperate???

Brent I would say that the MathType is not compatible with Publisher.
I always use the Microsoft Maths fonts and never have an issue. I use them
in individual Text Frames or Tables and sometimes the Table will only be the
1 frame.

It is not so much that MathType is incompatible with MS Publisher but
that MS Publisher's import filter for Word docs is broken. It is
evidently ignoring the baseline positioning that Word uses to make the
equation's baseline match that of the surrounding text. This is a
common problem with import filters in general --- they do the easy
stuff, but ignore the hard stuff. Complain to Microsoft, they do
listen to their customers.

Paul, how could you possibly suggest such a thing.

Paul, how could you possibly suggest such a thing - I am *SHOCKED*
Publisher 2003 probably does not have any issues, *PROVIDED* Word 2003 is
installed.
Oh yes, wash your mouth out with hot curry powder.
