Merging Enterprise Resources in Project 2002

I am trying to merge or delete an enterprise resource in MS Project 2002.
PWA gives a message "Microsoft Project Server cannot merge an enterprise
resource account into another account". I have tried by making the resources
active and then inactive but I keep getting the same message.

In Project Server 2002 and 2003, there are two kinds of user accounts in
PWA:

1. User accounts that do not map to a resource in the Enterprise Resource
Pool, such as a PWA account for an executive who will not serve as a team
member but who will still need to access PWA

2. User accounts that map to a resource in the Enterprise Resource Pool

For user accounts in situation #1 above, you can merge two accounts into
one. For user accounts in situation #2 above, you cannot merge the accounts
because the system cannot merge enterprise resources into a single resource.

On the other hand, if you need to delete an enterprise resource, refer to
the Resolution for Project Server 2002 in following link:

http://www.projectserverexperts.com/Shared Documents/deleteresource.htm

Before deleting an enterprise resource, be sure to transfer the resource's
Remaining Work to another resource for all tasks in each project to which
the original resource is assigned. Hope this helps.
