Message Status

I was forced to move from Outlook xp to 00. The only
problem I am having is with the message status staying
as "new" after I read an item. I prefer to use the
preview pane, and in xp after I read a message in the
preview pain, it was no longer flagged as a new message.
In 00 I am reading in the preview pain, but Outlook is
still considering the message as new.

Does anyone know how to change this? Besides being
annoying it is causing problems with a Blackberry handheld
device I am using?

Have you gone into Tools | Options | Other | Preview Pane and set the "mark
as read" options there?
