Messages are minimized when opened

I have a user on a laptop that keeps Outlook maximized.
When he opens a message the message is minimized and not
viewable until he minimizes his Inbox view. He also cannot
view any application that is minimized on the taskbar.

Thanks for any suggestions on correcting this problem.
