Microsoft Office 2003 Outlook

Hi:

My cousin has Microsoft Office 2003 Outlook installed and has logon
problems with Winstream.com which was formerly Alltel. Have followed
Windstream instructions, but still cannot logon.

I was thinking of maybe uninstalling Office 2003 Outlook and hopefully
reinstalling Outlook Express which should be available I would think since
she has Windows XP Home Edition.

What would be the ramifications of switching from Office 2003 Outlook back
to Outlook Express?

For one thing we could never get the viewing pane in Office 2003 Outlook
from a small area in the right hand side of screen. I never could find any
settings that would allow change to the viewing pane. Compared to Outlook
Express Office 2003 Outlook in my mind left a lot to be desired etc.

Thanks,

ColTom2

I work with a pair of HP Pavilions, with Windows MCE 2005. Each came with a
trial MS Office suite installed. I removed the MS Office suite on each as I
was setting up the computer. Don't want to pay for the full version, and the
trial version loses full functionality after 60 days.

MS Outlook Express is probably already installed. All that should be
necessary is to uninstall MS Outlook (or the whole Office suite, if that
suits you), and set up MSOE as the default email client. You might have to
re-create thr shortcuts which point to MSOE.

If your cousin has no need for MS Office, that computer might also have MS
Works installed, which is a reasonable low end "office suite" application.
Or you could download "Open Office" and install it:

http://www.openoffice.org/

MS Works, and Open Office will use the system default email client; neither
has its own email client.

The machine has Outlook Express already ("C:\Program Files\Outlook
Express\msimn.exe"). Before removing Outlook make sure you open OE and
import the messages and contacts.

Hi Frank:

Do I need to establish the same local folders in Outlook Express that have
been established in Outlook prior to importing or will it establish
everything when I Import?

Thanks,

Hi Frank:

I meant to ask you in my other email are there any special procedures to
follow when I uninstall Microsoft Office 2003 Outlook other than through
Add/Remove after importing to Outlook Express? Also are there any files
remaining that I manually need to delete?

Thanks,

ColTom2

Installing Outlook will make it the default browser. After uninstalling it
you will have to make WinMail the default again.

I assume it will create needed folders, but I can't check.
