Microsoft Office product suite

I have MS XP. My CD's show MS Works Suite 2001 & MS Word 2000 SR-1.
Shouldn't I have access to MS Access, Excel & Powerpoint?

No

You have CD's for Microsoft WORKS, and Microsoft WORD.. to have the other
programs, you would need to have a Microsoft OFFICE CD..

Then what is the difference in the Microsoft Works product suite (i.e. MS
database, spreadsheet etc.) from the MS Office product suite (i.e. MS access,
excel, powerpoint etc)?

Apart from the fact that Office has full featured elements that integrate
rather than 'integrated' as are the different elements in Works, you will
notice that Works will run on older, less well specified machines, is
probably as much as most home users will ever need, and it is CHEAP..
