I presently have microsoft office professional 2000 and am purchasing
microsoft office professional 2007. Do I have to uninstall 2000 first? What
will happen to my data in 2000 if I do?

Your 2000 data won't be touched by an uninstall. 2007 will be able to
use that data without a problem.
It is up to you whether you want to remove 2000 or not. It depends on
what kind of license you buy and whether you think you'll be able to
work with the radically different user interface of 2007 right away.

You should be able to upgrade the 2000. The upgrade versions are available at
a much lower retail pricing. But make sure you have the office 2000 cd kept
safe. You will need the 2000 disc in the future any time you try reinstalling
office.
