Microsoft Office Project 2007: Export to html

B

B Sai Prasad [PMP]

Dear Microsoft Project Support Group,

I am surpised to see why Microsoft Office Project 2007 does not support
exporting the data to HTML, as it is supported by earlier versions.

Please follow the thread
[http://www.microsoft.com/office/com...589a&cid=0e71a1ce-8cb7-4bd6-b52b-fb33a906aed9] to highlight the workaround for this requirement.

Would the service pack of MSP 2007, have this update?

Regards
Sai [PMP]

Hello Sai,

The only service pack released to date for Project 2007 (SP-1) does not
have this ability. My *guess* is that the option is gone, not to
reappear. From the help topic titled "Why can't I save my project as a
Web page?":
-------------------------------------
Microsoft Office Project 2007 does not support the ability to save a
project file as a Web page. Instead, you can save a project as a more
flexible XML (XML: Extensible Markup Language [XML] is a format for
delivering rich, structured data from an application in a standard,
consistent way. XML describes the content of a document, whereas HTML
tags describe how the document looks.) file. This enables you to apply
any style sheet to the XML file.
--------------------------------------------
I don't work for Microsoft, but based upon the information above, I'd
say Save as Web page is gone.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

B Sai,
I agree. I am very surprised but then again it is microsoft. The HTML save
made it very easy to create resource reports that could be opened from Excel
or Word for statusing. I am disapppointed that this feature has been removed
and hope as you that they will consider putting this feature back in.

I concur with you both - and so do several of the PMs I work directly with.
We're in a large organization and most people who need to see the schedules
don't even have MS Project installed on their systems. It's making our work
miserable!

ColtonW,

There may be a work around for this. You can email me direct at
(e-mail address removed) if you are interested in further discussions.

From the File menu, select Save As, and from the "Save as type" dro
down select "Web Page, Filtered (*.htm, *.html)". That should do th
trick!

Best of luck!

Hello Monica,

No, sorry not for Project 2007. The Save as HTML command is not in
the Project 2007 release.

Your directions work for Project 2003, but I imagine the OP was
asking where that command went in 2007.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.
