microsoft publisher 2003

When I copy from an outside source such as news article
on internet, my copy comes up in a separate box when I
paste. I have no problem copying & pasting from documents
within publisher. Any suggestions?

Try the options under Paste Special
Failing that, try pasting into Notepad and copying from Notepad into
Publisher.

Indeed as Ed mentions, using Edit > Paste Special > Unformatted Text will
paste into exisiting text boxes.
